Performance nutrition can sound like a checklist: eat before training, recover afterward, and get the nutrients your body needs. But for Marines, fueling well can support more than physical performance. It can also build habits that support readiness, resilience, and long-term goals.

Marine Corps Total Fitness recognizes four connected domains: physical, mental, social, and spiritual. Spiritual fitness includes purpose, identity, values, and the beliefs that help people stay grounded during challenging times.

Nutrition helps Marines turn their goals and values into action. Choosing foods that support performance is one small, daily decision that can contribute to being ready for the people, responsibilities, and missions that matter.

Consistency matters, too. Building sustainable nutrition habits requires planning, discipline, and an understanding of what works for your body and lifestyle. Those habits can reinforce a broader commitment to taking care of yourself and preparing for what comes next.

Nutrition is also connected to relationships and community. Shared meals, cultural traditions, and family routines can create opportunities to connect with others and make food about more than fueling the body. Taking time to be present during meals can also help create space to slow down and reconnect.

Performance nutrition is not about being perfect or sticking to a strict plan. It means making smart choices that fit your needs, goals, and activity level.

Fuel with intent. Build habits that support performance today and the readiness, health, and goals you want to carry forward.
